Home, point of reference and starting point. Home, the place we love, like a caress after a rough day, has nowadays become even more intimate. During such tough days it represents a place of protection, for us and everyone else. We have been asked to stay home and our reply has been “everything is going to be ok”. This article, typed straight by my living room, aims to collect the favourite corners of the italian families. The records of passionate, maybe even scared, but brave people. You and us, #athomebutclose.
What is your favourite corner at home during these days? A little big world of journeys and evasions
We feel lucky to be able to share with you the passion for interior design, hints and suggestions for decoration, artistic projects and daily inspirations through Ambientha blog… It’s about what we like to imagine as the virtual community. And given the importance of your support in our job, constantly looking for new suggestions, we wanted to include everybody in this episode. “What is your favourite corner” we asked you, and many of you answered, among the pages of a book with music.
“A place where escaping from reality is often just a leisure of a few minutes during the busy days made of work and duties. In those days it becomes a place for journeys and evasions…”, in the light of a candle close to a turntable or with headphones, in front of a consolle and a pc.
“Where to start?” A library filled with books: from photography to novels to the guidebooks of Lonely Planet, you just need to pick the first one for these days.
In front of a fireplace or a white orchid: the living room for chilling, working and long video calls
“Let’s cheer one another and stay strong from our homes”. A little bit of fear lies within us due to the overwhelming situation , but it is in this proper corner of the house that we can stop meditating and looking for peacefulness.
Having the chance and being capable of working from home is important, even with some effort for the wifi getting stuck, just like having the opportunity of video calling our beloved ones and smiling at them.
Sorting things out, having a break to think about ourselves and about our favourite corner at home
For many of us this is the right moment for sharing a positive thought, because even though we are denying ourselves several activities, it is necessary to look forward. “Great things will come, in the meantime, stay focused”.
Rearranging or not thinking about it at all. Getting engaged in the daily home made passions and ending up messy but creative and happy. Waiting the end of this pandemic and the related restrictions, by practicing happiness.
And what characterises us? Certainly the fact of being food lovers: an insight in what’s happening within the kitchen
There are those who call them “Consequences of the lockdown oil on canvas” with a homemade pie, those who dedicate themselves to making flatbreads with the youngest and again those who share their moments in the kitchen with their sweet kittens.
Exquisite scents come out of these corners, so permeated by life and loved by each of us. Eating well and being together in those moments of conviviality is precious, and we could say that these days are letting us find the time for fully enjoying them.
Home sweet home: the favourite corner transmits a feeling of natural harmony, transmits our style and personality
Lovers of nature, tidy and simplicity, or rather “hygge home lovers”. The flowers and plants, leading characters in bedrooms and living rooms, such as delicate colours and unique decorations: the essential and natural atmosphere of a warm and cosy environment in scandinavian style.
Each home is unique. Personality, temper and a strong attitude are the features which explain what distinguish us. It’s exactly when the environment represents us that it’s capable of donating us comfortable atmospheres and real emotions as well.
From the hygge inspirations to the precious materials and elegant decorations of classic inspiration, the interior design acquires elegant minimal chic notes and characterises new corners at home: bright and lovely.
“The colours, just like the features, follow the shifts of emotions”. In your pictures we find also soft chromatic combinations in shabby chic and flowery style. Yes indeed, because a pot of yellow tulips is enough for colouring our days.
Outside the sun is shining: the balcony becomes a warm and perfumed corner, a place where singing with the neighbours in the evening
Spring is coming and we don’t want to miss it. Amongst a cleanup of the balcony and the other, here the scented air and the warm sun rays, from the balcony.
Covid-19 is putting a strain on everybody, but it’s right in the warmth of a hug that we discover the best corner at home: family
“Family, the place where any one of us is treated at best and grumbles the most”. What do you say, do you agree? We craved for the sofa so much during the frenetic days of work, and these days it represents instead a safe place to be together, with our family.
A little bit of leisure, some time spent watching the tv, and for many, even cartoons. Children are at home from school for many weeks now, and if classes and playgrounds are seeing difficult days, the cuddles at home are not, at all.
So let’s hug one another, unfortunately the regulations in the matter of Coronavirus are adjusting almost every day and while we’re waiting for this emergency to go, let’s try to spend these days with the right enthusiasm. For sure, moments of discouragement will alternate with boredom and loneliness, but let’s move. Staying home, we’re all playing a role putting an end to this pandemic, we’re helping.
So let’s benefit from the time we have left and love one another, look for new suggestions, develop passions, restore the most cosy and stimulating atmosphere at home by all means we have. Nowadays we’re all connected, with a simple click we’re able to attend online classes, discover ideas and decoration tips, browse catalogues and dedicate to personalised interior design projects… Finger crossed and let’s try our best: #athomebutclose.

And besides, from the living room it is also possible to visit the most popular museum facilities worldwide. In order to survive the lockdown caused by Covid-19, the museums have realized virtual tours among the artworks: the Vatican Museums, Uffizi Gallery, Pinacoteca of Brera crossing Italy up to Louvre in Paris, British Museum in London, Metropolitan Museum in New York and Prado Museum in Madrid.

Everyone on time, at 6 pm the rendez-vous out on the balconies, all equipped with songs, stereos, musical instruments. From North to South everyone singing overlooking the windows, one day the italian anthem for feeling connected, the other the notes of the first viola at Scala Theatre in Milan, and again the wonderful voice of Giuliano Sangiorgi.
